SHERIFF: Child found dead at Vicksburg Family Fare likely died from heat

VICKSBURG, Mich. — A 3-year-old boy likely died in a heat-related incident at a Vicksburg Family Fare Tuesday afternoon, according to the Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Office.

Officers were called to the grocery store at about 3 p.m. after it was reported that a boy was unresponsive boy at the store's parking lot.

When they arrived, officers found the child dead in the backseat a maroon Chevrolet Tahoe.

Deputies with the Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Office believe the child's father owned the car.

As of 6 p.m., Kalamazoo County Sheriff's deputies have taken the lead on the investigation.
