5-year-old boy found dead after left in car for several hours in northwest Omaha

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - A 5-year-old boy was found dead in a car Wednesday in northwest Omaha, according to police.

Omaha Police Lt. Neal Bonacci said the boy was in foster care and had been in the car for several hours.

Officers responded to the area of north 93rd and Binney streets just after 5 p.m.

An OPD spokesman told 6 News it’s likely the death was heat-related but that the cause of death has to be confirmed with an autopsy.

According to 6 First Alert Chief Meteorologist Emily Roehler, the high-temperature Wednesday was 89 degrees.
