GLASGOW — Two children have been found dead in southwest Barren County.
Kentucky State Police is conducting a death investigation involving two boys ages 3 and 5, according to Charles Swiney, spokesman for the Bowling Green post.
The two children were located inside a truck on at 1483 Blaine Evans Road just off Ky. 1297 two miles from the Barren-Warren county line.
The Barren County Sheriff’s Office received the initial call this afternoon about two children who were missing. Sheriff Chris Eaton said the children’s mother reported she had fallen asleep between 1 and 1:30 p.m. while watching television with the children.
Deputies along with the Barren County Rescue Squad and Barren County volunteer firefighters arrived at the residence and began searching for the boys, Swiney said.
After an exhaustive search of the property the two boys were found inside a late model truck in a vehicle on the property and their mother at that point call Kentucky State Police, Swiney said.
The mother woke up a couple of hours later and could not find the children. Their grandmother then called 911, Eaton said.
The boys had apparently trapped in the truck. They were pronounced dead at the scene by a Barren County coroner.
Names of the children are not being released at this time, Swiney said. There is no more information being released about the investigation at this time.
