A 1-year-old boy who was left in a hot car in Scottsdale has died, and now his father is facing an additional charge of second-degree murder, Scottsdale police said Tuesday.
Life-sustaining measures for the child were discontinued on Monday, and the child died Monday night. The child had been in critical condition since Saturday after being found in a lethargic state in his fatherís vehicle, police said.
The Phoenix father, 28-year-old Brokale Lytte Marques, was arrested Saturday on suspicion of leaving his child in the car while he went to work in Scottsdale, police said.
Marques told investigators he left the baby in the car with the vehicle running and the air conditioning on because he was unable to find a sitter.
Marques will see a judge Tuesday morning in reference to the second-degree murder charge. He also faces charges of child abuse, child neglect and endangerment.
Marques didnít have an attorney as of Monday. His case has a scheduled Sept. 30 status conference and Oct. 2 preliminary hearing.
