Lowndes County Sheriff's Department Captain J.D. Yeager says the foster mother caring for the child said she had dropped two other children off at day care before heading for work at DuPont Crop Protection at 8 a.m. yesterday. He says the woman returned to the day care center after work around 4 p.m. and workers told her she had NOT left the baby with them that morning. The woman looked in the car and found the baby.The woman called 911 on her way to the hospital, and an ambulance met her vehicle on the street to take the child to South Georgia Medical Center, where the baby was pronounced dead. Authorities say the child apparently died around noon.
Yeager says detectives are continuing to investigate the case and will present the evidence to the district attorney to decide whether the woman will be charged.Authorities have NOT released the name of the woman or other details in the case.
