PHILADELPHIA, MISS. Philadelphia police say a 3-year-old child died Monday of heat exposure after being left in a car.

Police Chief Richard Sistrunk says autopsy results came in Tuesday and the child's death was ruled an accident. He says the death will be investigated.

The name of the victim and the parent are not being released. Sistrunk says the parent rushed the child to the hospital, but doctors could not revive the child.

Sistrunk says all of the findings from the investigation will be submitted to the district attorney.

Sistrunk says it appears the child was accidentally left alone in the vehicle for an extended period

Child's death ruled accidental

A 3-year-old Philadelphia girl died Monday afternoon from heat exposure after she was "accidentally" left in a vehicle parked downtown, the authorities said.

Ann Marie Graham, of 37 Terri Dr., was pronounced dead at Neshoba County General Hospital at 1:50 p.m., said Neshoba County Medical Examiner Allen Collins.

A community prayer vigil is planned tonight (Wednesday) at 6 p.m at DeWitt DeWeese Park.

Hospital personnel reported the incident to the Neshoba County Sheriff's Office at 1:28 p.m.

Philadelphia Police Chief Dickie Sistrunk said the child, whose name he would not release, was "accidentally" left alone in the vehicle for an extended period.

"She was taken by private vehicle to Neshoba County General Hospital where attempts were made to save her," he said. "An autopsy ruled it an accidental death from heat exposure."

The death remains under investigation, said Sistrunk.

She is the daughter of Allison and Doug Graham.

The Rev. Matt White, pastor of Longino Baptist Church where the Graham family attends, will lead the vigil.

"We just want to show our love," said Rita Wright, one of many volunteers placing about 50 pink bows downtown in a show of support on Tuesday. "What else can you say? We want to let the whole family know we love them."

Mrs. Graham is a kindergarten teacher at PES.
