Red Bird baby dies after being forgotten in car, police say 3:31 PM CT

A baby girl died this afternoon after being left in a car for about four hours in the Red Bird area of Dallas, authorities said.

1900 block of Sedona Lane The name of the infant, who was thought to be about 7 months old, was not released. She lived in the 1900 block of Sedona Lane.

Authorities say a family friend was supposed to take the child to day care, but instead left her in the car after running several errands.

"She forgot to go to the day care and drove back to the house," said Lt. Andrew Harvey, a police spokesman.

About 1:30 p.m., someone checked the car and saw the unconscious infant inside.

"When they came out and saw the baby inside the car, they called 911," Harvey said.

The baby was taken to Methodist Charlton Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

No one was immediately arrested. Dallas detectives were at the home late this afternoon, conducting interviews and examining the vehicle.
