A Lake Worth woman whose baby died last month after being left in a hot car was arrested today on a charge of aggravated manslaughter of a child, police said.
Lake Worth police say Melisa Wildman, 28, was at fault in her 4-month-old daughter's death because she was intoxicated when she forgot the infant in a car in her apartment building's parking lot.
"When you pour drugs or booze into your system and your child dies from it, that's when you have aggravated manslaughter," Sgt. Dan Boland said.
The baby was found in the car dead from overexposure to heat on April 7.
Wildman surrendered at the Lake Worth Police Department this afternoon and was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail.
