JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A 3-year-old boy died Friday afternoon after being found locked in a car with the windows up and the doors locked, police said.
The victim was identified by police as Scott Wilson.
Rescue workers found the boy in cardiac arrest and began performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation. He later died at Shands Jacksonville hospital. He had a temperature of 108 degrees.
The boy's mother told police she had given the boy breakfast between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. Friday. She went looking for him about 1 p.m. and found him in the car. It was unclear how the boy got in the car.
The boy's body was taken to the medical examiner's office for an autopsy, said Rick Wood, a spokesman for the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
Police were continuing their investigation.
