The Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community Police Department is investigating the deaths of two children whose bodies were discovered on Saturday locked inside the trunk of a car parked at a home.

The children, ages 4 and 6, were reported missing about 8:30 p.m. the same day before their mother found them in the trunk of the car parked at the house in the Dobson Heights subdivision of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community, east of Scottsdale, according to Janet Johnson, a community spokeswoman.

The names of the children were not released, and the Maricopa County Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death.

A memorial consisting of flowers, balloons, candles and stuffed animals was in the driveway of the family's home on East Pinchot Avenue, northeast of Dobson and Thomas roads.
